Demonstrating sector-leading credentials, Havelock delivered the complete interior fit-out of the £44m Levenmouth Academy campus. Replacing Kirkland and Buckhaven High Schools, the new school is the second largest in Scotland with capacity for 1,800 pupils and 200 members of staff.
The brief was to create an interior that represented a plain canvas, with pupils’ work bringing the space to life. Design features include floor-to-ceiling windows in circulation areas and skylights to flood the area with natural light, and a central open-plan ‘street’ lined with lockers.
Innovative areas new to Fife Schools include a Superlab and large multifunction classrooms spaces. These areas offer the school options to reconfigure to suit a variety of teaching styles and approaches. Havelock’s expertise was vital in specifying and delivering the correct furniture to realise the client’s aspirations.
Havelock supplied and installed all conventional and specialist FF&E, with fixed cabinetry, lab tables and benching manufactured in-house. AV technology is seamlessly integrated into learning walls throughout the campus. Further specialist classroom equipment includes kiln, home economics appliances, and craft design & technology equipment. The versatile learning spaces are complemented by two gyms alongside fitness and dance studios, open for community use.
