Securing Better Back Health for our Children
Research has documented that back health problems in later life can be traced back to incorrect posture which has its roots in primary schools, where we learnt to lean over desks to create a writing position. Thanks to organisations like the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA), these problems have been highlighted and the findings are being supported by the British and European governments with the passing of a new furniture standard (BS EN 1729:2006 part 1 & 2).
Part 1 sets out new standard dimensions for school furniture based on colour-coded Size Marks. Each Mark determining the height of seating and table surfaces. The new standard recommends a wider range of heights than its predecessor which in turn will require schools to provide a wider range of furniture. The new standard also proposes an alternative approach - height adjustable furniture. By using height adjustable tables and chairs schools can much more easily ensure that each child has an appropriate workstation for their size.
Q-Learn and Q-Pod have been designed specifically to solve the problem of matching pupilsÂ’ size to furniture height whilst ensuring a healthy seating posture. The furniture is revolutionary in appearance and meets all the requirements of PrEN1729. To find our more about these products visit our website at www.qlearn.co.uk or click the link here for
